About Yeadon in West Yorkshire
Yeadon is a town in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the A65, 5 miles (8 km) north-west of Leeds city centre and 2 miles (3 km) east of Bradford city centre. The population of the town was 19,134 at the 2011 Census.
Yeadon is a historic market town, with a market charter dating back to 1268. The town's market is still held every Tuesday, and is one of the largest in West Yorkshire. Yeadon has a number of historic buildings, including the Grade I listed Church of St John the Baptist, and Yeadon Town Hall which dates from 1874.
The town is home to Leeds Bradford International Airport, and to a number of light industrial and engineering businesses. Yeadon also has a number of primary and secondary schools, as well as a sixth form college.
