About Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire
Sowerby Bridge is a town in the Calderdale borough of West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies on the River Calder, 4 miles (6 km) east of Halifax. The town is twinned with Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte in Normandy, France.
Sowerby Bridge is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District National Park. The town has a number of independent shops, cafes and pubs, as well as a market which is held every Wednesday and Saturday. There are also a number of annual events which take place in the town, including the Sowerby Bridge Rushbearing Festival and the Sowerby Bridge Food and Drink Festival.
