About Storrington in Pulborough
Storrington is a large village in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. It is located on the A283 road, about 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Horsham and 30 miles (48 km) southwest of London. The village is in the civil parish of Storrington and Sullington. The parish has a population of 5,317.
The village has a long history and was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. It was originally known as Storringetone, meaning "estate associated with a man named Stura". The village grew up around the old manor house which was owned by the de Stourton family from the 12th century until 1557.
The village has a number of historic buildings including the Grade I listed Church of England parish church of St Mary the Virgin and the Grade II* listed Old Rectory. There is also a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle known as Storrington Castle.
The village is home to a number of businesses including several shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. There is also a primary school, a secondary school and a sixth form college.
