Handcross is a village in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England. The village is located on the A23 road, 7 miles (11 km) north of Crawley and 9 miles (14 km) south of Cuckfield. The village has a population of 1,743.
The village dates back to the 11th century when it was known as Hundecros. The name is derived from the Old English words for "hand" and "cross", meaning "hand-shaped cross". The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086.
The village has a number of historic buildings, including the Grade I listed St Mary's Church, which dates from the 12th century. The village also has a primary school, Handcross Park School, which was founded in 1873.
