About Coleshill in Birmingham
Coleshill is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands, England. It is situated on the A452 road, between Solihull and Birmingham. The village has a population of 4,852 (2011 census).
The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as being part of the lands of Earl Roger de Beaumont. It was later owned by the de Montfort family and then passed to the Crown in 1265. The manor house was rebuilt in 1560 by Sir Thomas Holte. The village was once served by Coleshill railway station on the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway, which opened in 1839 and closed in 1968.
The village has a number of Grade II listed buildings, including St Peter's Church, which dates from the 13th century, and Coleshill Manor House. There is also a war memorial in the village centre.
