About Whitburn in West Lothian

Whitburn is a town in West Lothian, Scotland. The town is situated on the A71, between Bathgate and Livingston. It has a population of around 9,000 people.

The town has a long history, dating back to the 12th century. It was originally a small village, but grew rapidly during the Industrial Revolution. The town's main industry was coal mining, and it was home to several large collieries.

The town also had a shipbuilding industry, and was the birthplace of the famous shipbuilder William Beardmore. The Beardmore company built some of the largest and most famous ships of the early 20th century, including the Titanic.

Whitburn is now a commuter town for Edinburgh and Glasgow. However, it still has a strong sense of community, and is home to several local businesses and amenities.
