Leamington Spa, Warwickshire is a town in central England. The town is located on the River Leam, which flows through the town centre. The town is situated in the county of Warwickshire, in the West Midlands region of England. Leamington Spa is approximately 10 miles (16 km) south-east of Birmingham, and about 20 miles (32 km) north-west of Coventry.
The town was originally developed as a spa town in the 18th century, following the discovery of mineral springs in the area. The springs were developed into a series of baths, which were popular with visitors from all over England. In the 19th century, the town became a popular resort for the wealthy, and many grand houses and hotels were built in the town centre.
The town has a population of approximately 55,000 people. The economy of the town is based on tourism, retail and service industries. There are a number of tourist attractions in the town, including the Royal Pump Rooms, which houses a museum and art gallery, and the Jephson Gardens, which are a series of formal gardens located in the centre of the town.
Leamington Spa is twinned with Bad Homburg in Germany and Aix-les-Bains in France.
