Farnham is a town in Surrey, England, within the Borough of Waverley. The town is 31mi southwest of London in the extreme west of Surrey, adjacent to the border with Hampshire. Farnham is the second largest town in Waverley, and one of the five largest conurbations in Surrey. It is of historic interest, with many old buildings, including a number of Georgian houses. Farnham Castle overlooks the town. A large number of artifacts have been found in the town, indicating it was a settlement as early as the Bronze Age. Farnham appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as Ferneham. It was held by William the Conqueror. Its Domesday assets were: 8½ hides. It had 5 ploughs, 25 acres (10 ha) of meadow, and woodland worth 5 hogs. It rendered £7 10s 0d.
