About Crianlarich in Perth and Kinross

Crianlarich is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. The village is in the Highland ward of Perth and Kinross. The village is situated on the A85 road, at its junction with the A827 and A828 roads, in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Crianlarich lies at the foot of Ben More, one of the Munros.

The name Crianlarich comes from the Gaelic for "little pass". The village was once an important staging post on the drovers' road from Glasgow to Fort William and Inverness. The drovers' road ran through the village, over the pass of Glen Lochay to Glen Dochart and then on to Tyndrum.

The village has a railway station on the Glasgow to Fort William line. Crianlarich is also a popular starting point for hillwalkers and climbers, as it lies at the junction of three main routes into the Highlands.
