About Kidlington in Oxfordshire

Kidlington is a large village and civil parish in Oxfordshire, England, about 5mi north of Oxford. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 13,723. It is the largest village in Oxfordshire and one of the largest in England.

The toponym Kidlington is derived from the Old English Cudelinga tun, meaning the estate associated with a man called Cydel. In the Domesday Book of 1086 it was recorded as Chedelintone.

The Church of England parish church of St Mary the Virgin was rebuilt in 1859–61 by the Gothic Revival architect G. E. Street. St Mary's has a 13th-century tower with six bells, but the rest of the church was rebuilt in 1859–61.

Kidlington has a public library, which is part of Oxfordshire County Council's network of libraries. The building also houses a children's library and facilities for disabled people. There are several pubs in Kidlington, including the White Hart and the Rose & Crown.
