Sutton-in-Ashfield is a town in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located on the border with Derbyshire, and is part of the Nottingham urban area. The town has a population of around 40,000 people.

The town is best known for its coal mining heritage, and for being the birthplace of the writer D. H. Lawrence. The town has a number of historic buildings, including St. Mary's Church, which dates back to the 13th century.
