Bedlington is a town in Northumberland, England. It is situated on the River Blyth, in the north of the county, and had a population of 8,169 at the 2011 Census. Bedlington is close to the A1 road and the A167, and is about 13 miles (21 km) north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is in the former mining area of Northumberland, and was once a centre for coal mining. The Bedlington Ironworks were established in 1709, and operated until 1874.
