About Attleborough in Norfolk

The town of Attleborough is located in the county of Norfolk, England. It has a population of approximately 11,000 people and is situated approximately 20 miles (32 km) south-west of the city of Norwich. The town is served by two railway stations, Attleborough and Wymondham, and by the A11 road which runs between Norwich and Cambridge. Attleborough is a market town and its name is derived from the Old English meaning 'fortified town or settlement'. The town's market charter was granted by King John in 1204. The town's main industry is agriculture and it also has a number of businesses which include engineering, manufacturing and retail. There are several schools in the town, including Attleborough Academy which was rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2013.
