Ellesmere Port is a town and port in Cheshire West and Chester, England. The town had a population of 55,715 in 2011.

It is on the Manchester Ship Canal, which links the River Mersey with Manchester, and is the site of the National Waterways Museum.

The town is named after the Ellesmere Canal, which was built in the early 19th century to connect the rivers Mersey and Dee. The canal was later bought by the Manchester Ship Canal Company and incorporated into the ship canal.

The town has a strong industrial heritage and was once a major hub for the chemical industry. It is also home to a large number of retail parks and outlets.
