Bootle is a town in Merseyside, England. It is situated on the River Mersey, close to the city of Liverpool. Bootle's population was 77,640 at the 2011 Census.

Bootle was historically a part of Lancashire, but became part of the newly created Merseyside in 1974. The town has a long history and was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 as Bootle cum Linacre.
