Birkdale is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, England. Historically in Lancashire, it is on the coast, to the north of the city of Liverpool. At the 2011 Census, the population was 12,623.

Birkdale is a largely residential area with a village feel, having independent shops and businesses mixed with residential streets. The area has a number of public parks including Victoria Park and Botanic Gardens. There are also a number of schools in the area including Birkdale High School and Birkdale Primary School.

The town is home to Birkdale Beach, which is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The beach is situated next to Birkdale Promenade, which offers stunning views of the coastline.
