Motherwell is a town in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is the administrative centre of North Lanarkshire Council. Motherwell is the fifth largest town in Scotland. The 2011 UK Census recorded Motherwell's population at 30,711, an increase of 2.2% from the 2001 UK Census. In 2014 Motherwell was ranked the 13th most deprived area in Scotland, and the second most deprived in North Lanarkshire.
