Coatbridge is a town in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The town has a population of around 40,000 people and is located just to the east of Glasgow.
Coatbridge is a former industrial town which was once home to many heavy engineering and steelworks factories. However, since the decline of the heavy industries in the late 20th century, the town has undergone something of a regeneration with new retail and leisure developments springing up in recent years.
There are a number of notable landmarks in Coatbridge including the Town Hall, which was built in 1866, and the Airdrie to Bathgate railway line which runs through the town. Coatbridge is also home to a number of parks and green spaces including Central Park and Drumpellier Country Park.
