About Bellshill in Lanarkshire
Bellshill is a town in Lanarkshire, Scotland with a population of around 37,000. The town is located just to the east of Glasgow and is part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation. The town has a long history dating back to the 12th century when it was first mentioned in a charter. The town grew rapidly in the 19th century as a result of the industrial revolution and became a major centre for coal mining and steel production. The town's economy declined in the latter part of the 20th century as these industries went into decline, but it has since been regenerated with new retail and leisure developments. The town is home to Motherwell Football Club and has a number of parks and green spaces.
