Stanford-le-Hope is a town in the Thurrock district of Essex, England. The town is on the River Thames, and is located in the London commuter belt. It has a population of 13,000.

The town is twinned with the town of Hockenheim in Germany.

The town has a history dating back to the Roman era, when it was known as Stanfords. It was an important market town during the Middle Ages, and was granted a charter by King Edward I in 1281.

During the Industrial Revolution, the town became a major centre for coal mining and brickmaking. The coal mines have now closed, but the town still has a large brickworks.

The town is home to a number of schools, including Stanford-le-Hope Primary School, which was rated as "outstanding" by Ofsted in 2010.

The town has good transport links, with Stanford-le-Hope railway station providing direct services to London Fenchurch Street and Southend-on-Sea. The A13 road also runs through the town, providing links to London and Thurrock.
