The town of Braintree is located in Essex, England. It has a population of approximately 35,000 people. The town is situated on the River Brain, which flows through the town and into the nearby River Blackwater. Braintree is a historic town, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The town was an important market town during the medieval period, and was granted a charter by King John in 1214. Today, Braintree is a thriving commercial centre, with a variety of shops, restaurants and businesses. The town also has a number of historic buildings and monuments, including the Grade I listed St Michael's Church.
