The town of Braintree is located in Essex, England. It has a population of approximately 35,000 people. The town is situated on the River Brain, which flows through the town and into the nearby River Blackwater. Braintree is a historic town, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The town was an important market town during the medieval period, and was granted a charter by King John in 1214.
