East Riding of Yorkshire is a county in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. It borders North Yorkshire to the west, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire to the south, and the East Midlands to the south-west. The North Sea lies to the east. The administrative centre and largest town is Beverley.

The East Riding of Yorkshire County Council is based in Beverley, with five main towns: Bridlington, Goole, Hessle, Hornsea and Beverley. The county is divided into 23 wards, with a total population of 334,564 in 2011.

The economy of the East Riding of Yorkshire is largely based on agriculture, with tourism also playing a significant role. The county is home to a number of historic sites and attractions, including Beverley Minster, Burton Agnes Hall, Flamborough Head, Hull Marina and the Yorkshire Wolds.

The East Riding of Yorkshire was established in 1974, following the Local Government Act 1972. It was formed from the northern part of the non-metropolitan county of Humberside, as well as parts of the West Riding of Yorkshire and the county boroughs of Kingston upon Hull and Scunthorpe.

The East Riding of Yorkshire is a rural county with a diverse landscape. The Yorkshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, cover a large part of the county; while the River Humber flows through the southern part. There are a number of nature reserves and country parks in the East Riding of Yorkshire, including Spurn National Nature Reserve, Fraisthorpe Beach and Burton Constable Country Park.

The East Riding of Yorkshire has a number of towns and villages, each with their own unique character. Beverley is a historic market town with a medieval minster, while Bridlington is a seaside resort with a busy harbour. Goole is a town with a rich maritime history, while Hessle is a thriving commercial centre. Hornsea is a popular seaside resort, while Howden is a picturesque market town
