The valleys in Ceredigion are typically narrow and steep-sided with rivers running through them. The most notable valley in the county is the Vale of Rheidol which is home to the Rheidol Power Station.

Ceredigion has a number of towns and villages which offer a variety of amenities and attractions. Aberystwyth is the largest town in Ceredigion with a population of approximately 18,000 people. The town is situated on the coast and is a popular tourist destination with its castle, pier and seafront promenade.

Cardigan is a town located in the west of Ceredigion on the River Teifi. The town has a population of approximately 5,000 people and is home to Cardigan Castle. The castle was built by Gilbert de Clare in 1171 and was an important stronghold during the Norman conquest of Wales.

Lampeter is a small town located in central Ceredigion with a population of approximately 2,500 people. The town is home to Lampeter University which was founded in 1822 and is one of the oldest universities in Wales.
