About Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire is a county in Wales. It is bordered by Ceredigion to the north-west, Pembrokeshire to the west, and the city and county of Swansea to the south. The county town is Carmarthen. Carmarthenshire County Council is based in Carmarthen.

The county has a population of around 174,000 people. Carmarthenshire is a predominantly rural county with a few large towns, including Carmarthen, Llanelli, Ammanford and Kidwelly. The coastline of Carmarthenshire is about 70 miles long and includes the popular tourist destinations of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Laugharne.

The county is home to a number of historical and cultural attractions. These include Carmarthen Castle, Aberglasney Gardens, National Botanic Garden of Wales, St David's Cathedral and the National Wool Museum.

Carmarthenshire is also home to a number of sporting teams and venues. The county's main football team is Carmarthen Town F.C. who play in the Welsh Premier League. The county also has a number of successful rugby union teams, including Llanelli Scarlets and Carmarthen Quins. The Millennium Stadium, home of the Welsh national rugby union team, is located in Cardiff, just over the border from Carmarthenshire
