About Kemnay in Aberdeenshire
Kemnay is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is located on the River Don, 10 miles (16 km) west of Aberdeen. The town has a population of 3,430 (2011 census).
Kemnay is an ancient town, first recorded in 965 as a royal burgh. It was once a thriving market town, with a weekly market and annual fair. The town declined in the 19th century, when the local laird began to encourage residents to move to his new planned village of Inverurie. However, Kemnay has since recovered and is now a thriving commuter town for Aberdeen.
The town has a number of amenities, including a golf course, tennis courts, bowling green, swimming pool and several parks. There are also several primary schools and a secondary school.
