Ellon is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is located on the River Ythan, 10 miles (16 km) north of Aberdeen. The town has a population of 9,000 people.

Ellon has a long history dating back to the Picts. It was an important trading post for the Romans and later became a royal burgh. In the 12th century, Ellon Castle was built by the Earl of Buchan. The town was captured by the English in 1346 but was later retaken by the Scots.

The town grew in the 19th century with the coming of the railways. Ellon became a commuter town for Aberdeen. The town has a golf course and a number of parks and gardens. There are also several primary and secondary schools in Ellon.
